PHOENIXZ Clothing - T-shirts and Models

These are the T-shirts I designed for my own online clothing line, PHOENIXZ!

I designed the graphics for the T-shirts using Adobe Illustrator and Fireworks CS4. I taught myself the printing techniques and how to get the best quality of print possible. In this case, I made sure my designs were at 300dpi and in vectors before sending them to the printing company.

I also photographed my models with my SLR FinePix S9500 camera and edited them in Adobe Photoshop CS4. I particularly like the shot of my friend doing a handstand against the graffitied wall, I think it presents a more lively and informal image to a younger audience.

This is a screenshot of the PHOENIXZ Myspace layout and which I designed and which my mother then coded so that it would work in a myspace template. I intended to present clearly the different groups such as: Contact details, Friends, Comments and Endorsement Artists in each individual section. I also included a Mircrosoft Flash header to catch the audience's attention when first viewing the site, as well as creating more of an Egyptian theme to the layout.

This is a screenshot of PHOENIXZ's main website. I have designed the logo, templates, colour schemes and typographies throughout the site. I chose to use more vibrant colours to accompany the bright prints on the T-shirts. I used Photoshop and Illustrator CS4 to design and edit all the graphics and photographs included in this website.

AS Level - Dance as a Sanctuary

These are some photographs of my developmental work. The top left page is experimenting with movement by overlaying dance figures, whilst the top right page is experimenting with photography in a confined space to contrast with the freedom shown in the left page. I then started to experiment with different hues and saturations.

More sketchbook work: Artists research from Edgar Degas and Eadweard Muybridge. I studied Degas' work by looking at how single shots were composed to show the back of the dancer as well as the front by using the mirror technique in the painting.

I also researched Muybridge's photography and looked into how movement was shown in various multiple images. I then created the piece on the right, showing a ballet movement through one figure using arrows and lines through the body.

Experimenting with different types of media. After taking photos of myself at my dance lesson, I based this piece on my own figure's movement.
I painted onto a plank of white plastic covered wood, then carved in each figure from right to left showing movement in the piece.

This is the final piece of my Dance as a Sanctuary unit. The brief was set on Sanctuary and I chose to go down the route of how dancing can become your own sanctuary.
I decided to focus more on break dancing because it is part of a huge culture and represents freedom, life and equality.

AS Level - Autobiography

Research and developmental work of pop art artists Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. In the top picture of the sketchbook I have included a self portrait in the style of Andy Warhol.
More work developing the idea of pop art, experimenting with different types of media: card and tissue paper.
I also experimented with various types of typography in my sketchbook. In the top right print I illustrated this with a "Once Upon a Time" font.
Developing my ideas further, inspired by Barbara Kruger and her You are Yourself piece combined with the Through the Looking-Glass theme from my favourite childhood book Alice In Wonderland.
The top photograph shows how I haveexperimented with the colours using a high level of saturation, making the photographs almost like pop art.

This painting is my final piece for the Autobiography unit. It is a self potrait with shattered mirror and pop art painted objects scattered around the bottom right of the composition. By combining these three subjects, my painting shows both realism and pop art as one.
